GENERAL INFORMATION:

Recognizing that most training for GIS software does not address conservation issues, the Conservation GIS Consortium (CGISC) created the Starter Kit as a self-paced program that brings real data and exercises to the GIS learning process.

The Starter Kit is an interactive CD-ROM containing tutorials and other background information designed to help conservationists get started using GIS. The Starter Kit includes exercises and data and requires ESRI ArcView 3.x.

CGISC, an association of NGOs (GreenInfo Network- San Francisco CA, Interrain Pacific - Portland OR, Pacific Biodiversity Institute - Winthrop WA, Sierra Biodiversity Institute - North San Juan CA), provides technology training and management support services to nonprofit environmental organizations using geographic information systems in North America. The Consortium was established in 1994 to enhance the ability of its members to provide GIS support services to its constituents, promote collaboration among its members to extend the frontiers of conservation GIS applications, and encourage the formation of new organizations and programs which further the Consortium's mission in unserved or underserved areas.

PRICING INFORMATION:

The Starter Kit price for US-based nonprofit organizations [with 501(c)(3) tax exempt designation by the IRS] is $50 plus $10 for shipping and handling. The price for other organizations is $150 plus $10 for shipping and handling.

HOW TO ORDER YOUR GIS STARTER KIT:

To order copies of the starter kit, please fill out an order form and e-mail, fax, phone, or mail it to us.

Please allow two weeks for delivery. Single CD orders will be shipped via US mail first class. Multiple CD orders will be shipped via UPS.
